This year, Good For Her has had the pleasure of partnering with Good Releasing in the creation of the Emerging Filmmaker Award. The EFA honors new and emerging filmmakers by providing a monetary award to aid in the completion of their first erotic film project. Applicants were asked to submit a project manifesto in which they describe their project, their intentions and their background. This year, it was an incredible task to choose a winner from the creative and diverse applicant pool, but one applicant presented a project that not only deserves FPA recognition, but addresses an obvious lack in current industry representation. It is my honor, on behalf of Good For Her and Good Releasing to present this years Emerging Filmmaker Award to Tobi Hill Meyer for her work on Doing It Ourselves: The Trans Women Porn Project.
 

Heartthrob of the Year | April Flores

Performers deserve to be recognized for the incredible work they do to promote and sustain feminist porn in an industry that can often make such a task difficult. The Visionary | Shine Louise Houston

This year’s visionary award goes to someone who arguably was responsible for the explosion and popularity of queer porn into the mainstream. With the creation of both dirty movies and interactive web communities, Shine Louise Houston continues to be on the forefront, pushing for better representation in erotic film. This feminist pornographer blends her film training with her smut education, and has the largest collection of FPA glass butt plug memorabilia with a whopping six trophies - now up to seven, and a Viewers Choice award. 

The Trailblazer | Tristan Taormino 

How do you give a lifetime achievement award to someone who is at the top of their game and not losing any steam? In an industry with an incredibly high turn over rate, it is remarkable when someone can sustain a ten year career while simultaneously continuing to stay true to her intentions and expand the scope and impact of feminist porn.   A trailblazer makes way for others to follow and opens up new opportunities for people attempting to forge their own path through similar avenues. In feminist pornography, one name evokes an understanding of art, of advocacy, of education and of quality - Tristan Taormino.

Honourable Mentions: 

This year at the Feminist Porn Awards we were overwhelmed by the quality and the quantity of submissions. The jury tirelessly screened and offered feedback about each qualifying movie and discussed merits based on important standards: either that a woman had a hand in the production of the movie, that it depicts genuine pleasure and consent, and/or it expands the boundaries of sexual representation on film.  It was sadly impossible to award each fantastic submission we received.  However, we selected 4 films that we couldn't let slip by without mentioning.
 
1)     Dirty Diaries: 12 Shorts of Feminist Porn – This collection from Sweden raised quite a stir when it received government funding to produce smut. With 12 artistic installments, this film is diverse, edgy and an important contribution to the Feminist Porn canon.
2)     Women Love Porn—Feminist Porn Award winning director Anna Span ran a contest seeking the best new female directors in Great Britain. This collection showcases emerging talent and their super sexy creations.
3)     Sensual Massage for Pregnancy—A previous FPA award winner, Jayia and New World Sex Education bring us this sensual educational look at sex and pregnancy.
4)   Cocksucker—Fetish director Julie Simone’s short film about the power and pleasure of giving head gives us an intimate look at some very intimate acts.
